This was that last class.  I will miss everyone in class.  I think that we all worked together well.  Everyone in class is so creative.  I have learned so much from this class.  The skills that I learned in it are definitely ones that I will use in the future.  I am actually interested in taking more graphic design classes, so I can learn more.  I never realized how  much fun I could have doing it.  I am happy that I took this class and loved how it was with two classes a week.  I thought that it might be to much to take the class as a summer class, but I think I prefer the format to the regular semester, at least for a design class.  I think that it helps for the creativity to flow better and to be able to keep everything fresh in my mind.

This whole project has been interesting to see.  I have learned Illustrator better (I still plan to learn more).  I am also liking InDesign.  These two programs will be interesting to do more things in.  Our final pages looked really good. Designing the cover was as always interesting.  I could not come up with anything that I liked, but when I saw others my brain then started thinking.  It will be nice to be able to actually order a completed book to look at for the future.

It is sad to realize that the last class for this semester is in two days.  We wrapped up our pages today and started to think about the cover.  It will be nice to see what the final cover we agree on looks like.  We put everyones pages up to see how they looked.  I think they looked great.  Here is what they all looked like.

Class was good.  We worked more on our Fables and looking at what the book is looking like so far.  We started to work in InDesign.  We brought our illustrations into InDesign and started our page layout.  As I walked around the classroom looking at how everyones was coming along it was amazing to see how different everyones was, but how well they all seemed to tie together.  We printed what we had done so far and put them on the board to see how everything was working so far.  We decided to change somethings, but a lot of things looked great the way that they were.  I am getting more excited about this project.  Here is what we have so far.

For this project we all picked a Fable that we wanted.  We will be doing 2 pages each.  When we are finished we will be putting it all together in a book that we can order.  We will be making illustrations for our fables in Illustrator.  Everyone is so talented.  It is fun learning the things that Illustrator will do.  This is our idea bored that we made made to see what we wanted for the book.  We got to see what we liked and what we didn’t like.  I am excited to see what the finished Fables will look like.

In class we did a critique of our Expressive Words project.  Everyone did such a great job.  We then started our next project.  We are doing Aesop Fables.  As a class we are going to make a book.  We are each doing 2 pages with one fable.  In class we started discussing what we want the basics of the book to look like.  It was fun to put all the ideas together on the board.  We then started to work on our illustrations for our fables.  I have chosen the Hare and the Tortoise.  I am worried about how my illustrations will come out, but other then that I am really excited about this project.  This was our idea board.

This project I found interesting.  I really enjoyed learning how just changing how the letters are or the word looks can really make a big difference.  It has changed how I look at ads and billboards.  I found some frustration in doing this project because I had to learn about Illustrator to try and make things look different.  Hopefully, what I learned doing this project will help me with future ones.  I definitely want to learn more about Illustrator.  When I have more free time I want to learn and explore more.  Here are my final 4 that I did.  I am still not completely happy with them, but here is what I have for now.

Thursday’s class was good again.  I learned some new things in Adobe Illustrator that I think are going to be very helpful.  We did a Charrette in class.  We had to work with a new group this time which I found to be good.  It was interesting to see how everyone works in the different ways.  Interestingly the group I was in all seemed to stay similar in thoughts with differences that were beneficial to working and solving any issues that we had.  I felt it was a good mix. Below are the finished things from the 3 groups we had.  Our group is first then the classes. We then worked more on our Expressive Words project and did a critique so that we could see what (if anything) needed to be adjusted.

Class was good.  I have to say I was happy to be done with the text formatting project.  I really did not enjoy it.  We started the next project which is Expressive Words.  It was overwhelming to do.  I kept looking around the class and everyone was working away what seemed to be very easily on it.  I had a very hard time.  I know very little about Illustrator.  She had us switch with someone in class and I felt really bad for Mel (who I got her project).  I didn’t know anywhere near what she did so even though I had ideas I was unable to do any of the things.  I have hardly had time to play with it over the years.  It looks like it is an amazing program, but I will need time to learn it.  I worked on it today, but spent a lot of time searching how to do thing and where to find things that I know where there.  Our  professor showed us how to do things, but it was so overwhelming that by the time I had time to work today I couldn’t remember where to find things.  I then spent time watching videos to remember how to do the things.  I still don’t know how to do some of the things that I know it can do.  Hopefully, in class tomorrow I will be able to learn more so that I am more comfortable with illustrator and then have time to learn more about it this weekend.

This project I really liked.  I thought that it was fun to learn how to make something look nice.  I really can see myself using InDesign more in the future even for personal use.  I am excited to be learning more in class.  I am really looking forward to the projects that begin to tie everything together.  I am really enjoying this class and what I am learning.  This is the project that we all did.
