This rotation project was a good way to shut my brain off.  It actually turned out to be a harder then I thought it would be to come up with 100 different ways to do this.  I found myself really exploring and trying different things. I am thinking that this was the main point in this project to explore and get used to the different ways that you can do things in Illustrator.  I was really surprised at how interesting some of the rotations came out.  Especially with what I started with.  At one point I gave up and just drew random things. They actually turned out really well I think.

Class today was good.  Our professor wasn’t feeling well. 😦   We spent most of the class time working on our rotation projects.  It was nice to walk around and see what everyone else had done.  I don’t really have much to say about this class period.

This project was fun to explore with.  We started to work on this is class and I managed to make 2 in class.  I worked on my third one at home during the week.  I found them to be fun and relaxing to make.  This was the 1st project that I found even a thought of turning my brain off and just letting my artsy side come out.  Here are my 3 repetition projects.

October 10, 2017

Class was good.  We started the class critiquing our fluctuating ground images.  It was nice to see how everyones projects turned out.  Everyone is very creative.  We then learned how to make repetition in Illustrator.  I found that fun and enjoyed doing it.  We made 2 in class and have to do 1 more during this week.  When we had done that we then started learning rotation.  This I REALLY liked.  It reminded me of making spiral graphs.  It is a project that is exactly what I need right now.  I can turn my brain off and just have fun with making them.  I find making them very relaxing.  I can’t wait to make more.

Class was good today.  We went over our projects and talked about how to improve them.  We then were able to have time to work on them and walk around the class and look and comment on others while we worked.  There wasn’t really much for me to comment on. It was more of learning to work and comment on each others.  I hope that at some point people begin to fell comfortable making comments on others works.  I found in my last class that that really helped me improve my work.

Project 3 has, yes again, been hard for me.  I tried to sketch and think, but could not keep my mind focused.  I am at a point where I think being in the class is not a good thing for me right now.  It was nice to sketch again and try to let my brain shut off for a few minuets here and there.  I got VERY frustrated with illustrator.  I know that there is a way to get it to do what I wanted, but I just couldn’t find the time or the patience to figure it out before our last class.  Luckily, we talked about them and were able to do the work during this last week.  I think that I like how it turned out, but I am not thrilled with it.  Below is how my project turned out.

Class was good.  We spent time going over everyones projects and commenting on them. We then went on to discuss the next project and Illustrator. I have to brush up on my illustrator skills.  I am not sure about the next project that we discussed.  I get the point and think that it will be nice to see what everyone does. Over all I still feel like I am not mentally in the class as my brain is always thinking of everything that I have to get done.

Project 2 was again hard for me with time.  I am hoping that things can settle at least some so that I stop regretting not dropping this class.  Picking the things that I wanted to contrast each other actually wasn’t hard for me.  Finding the things that would reflect what I wanted was a challenge.  Also, finding the time to work on it when I could think and not just throw it on the paper was hard. I am not really sure I like it after I put the modge podge on top of it.  When I saw the classes I really regretted the modge podge on top.  Oh well live and learn.  This is how my project turned out.  It is supposed to be rough (Uncomfortable)/Soft (Comfortable).

Class today was good. I had a hard time focusing. I really need to focus more on things for this class.  We talked about composition and how to make an image work on a page. This is stuff that was a good reminder for me. I liked my colour Theory class when I first went to college. It has been a while so it was nice to have a reminder. Again, I look forward to this project and hope that life allows for me to have time to work on it. We are making a contrasting image.  We are not using the computer for this project. We are using things that are around us and putting them on Bristol paper and then modge podging it. I love modge podge! I have collected the things that I am going to use accept I think 1 thing which I will get tomorrow. I should have time to work on it tomorrow if not finish it. Lets hope that that actually works out. It will be nice to get back to my roots of art.

Project 1 was Tidying up Art.  I enjoyed the project, but found that life got in the way more then I liked.  Unfortunately, life seems to be like that. I learned that I liked tidying up art, but that there are still some things that I am not sure of when they become to much. When I worked with the colours I found it easy to sort and organize, but when it came to the lines I had a hard time. I am not sure if at this point in my life any way that I sorted them would look right to me. Hopefully, as the class progresses I won’t regret not dropping it, as I do right now, because of to much going on.
The class did a good job at the Tidying up project.  It was nice to see how they all came out. This is my project and what the original looked like.
